Steve Powers - Live from Pacha NYC

Mark Larush Bio & Mix

Mark Larush is one of the most talked about deejays on the New York City party scene. His skyrocketing popularity has him regularly spinning at the hottest clubs and lounges. This demand stems from his ability to effortlessly captivate crowds and keep them moving all night long. He holds weekly residencies at Le Souk, Sky Room, Flute Champagne Lounge and Phebe's, and makes appearances at Kiss N Fly, Tenjune, Greenhouse and Hudson Terrace. He has spun at private events for NYC Fashion Week, Bad Boy Records, CNN, Film Annex NYC Open Judo Tournament, Sony Vaio, and parties attended by stars like Swiss Beatz, Estelle, Beyonce, and Cedric the Entertainer.

Don't mistake Mark Larush's recent rapid rise as being a newcomer to the industry. Music has always been his passion. Influenced as a small child by older cousins who were deejays, Mark longed for the day when he could have turntables of his own. When he was 14, he worked part-time at night and on the weekends, balancing school work and basketball, to save up enough money to purchase deejay equipment. Surrounded by the violence, poverty and negative influence of East New York, Brooklyn growing up, he focused his attention on practicing rather than getting caught up in a lifestyle that left many of his peers incarcerated, deported or deceased.

On a mission to find others filled with musical inspiration like himself, Mark sought to watch other deejays in Brooklyn and Queens spin vinyl of Latin, House and Hip-Hop music. He listened intently and studied how other deejays riveted crowds, crafting his own style for moving the masses. What started as spinning at weddings, house parties, and neighborhood events in Brooklyn, eventually graduated to performing at legendary venues like Culture Club, Home, Suzie Wongs, and Guest House.

Mark is one of the few who are able to live their dream and he doesn't take that for granted. He is dedicated to his profession and has an uncommon work ethic. He has the ability to captivate audiences and connect them through all forms of music including house, top 40, hip hop, soul, indie, rock n' roll and everything else in between.

My Reel for March 2012

This reel shows a variety of my videography/cinematography work. Over the last two years, I have done so many different kinds of work and I tried to capture that here. Commercials, interviews, short films, promotional stuff, music videos, etc. It took me a while to pick out a song I wanted to use, so i hope you all enjoy this track "Cheap Frill" by Freaky Disco. For my last reel I had used another track from Freaky Disco so I stuck with them. Another issue I had was deciding how long to make this thing because if I used only 3-4 seconds of EVERYTHING I filmed it would still be 3.5 hours long. Leave a comment and tell me what you think. Enjoy :)
